The
band was formed from a group of friends who have performed together at various
times in a musical comedy revue (Skule Nite) as
performers, musicians and directors. The
various members have also performed in a variety of different bands. In February 2002, we decided to come together
to form Out of the Blues.
The
name was chosen because all the music we play is based on blues and its
derivatives. Be it rhythm and blues,
funk, soul, swing, or just good ol rocknroll, Out of the Blues is sure to show
you how much fun it can be. The initial
focus of the band has been to lay down a repertoire of cover tunes to suit a
variety of functions.
The
covers we do include: James Brown, Wilson Picket, Blood Sweat and Tears, Stevie
Wonder, Santana, Chubby Checker, Chicago, and even Frank Zappa. With a list 40 songs under our belt, we are
now embarking on writing original material that will be as diverse as our cover
tune repertoire.
